Add to basketFirst edition of this political novel; from the library of writer and social reformer Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Octavo, original blue pictorial cloth. Signed and dated in ink by Gershwin on the front free endpaper, "Charlotte Perkins Gilman June 1912." Gilman was an American humanist, novelist, writer, lecturer, advocate, and eugenicist who served as a role model for future generations of utopian feminists. Best known for her semi-autobiographical short story 'The Yellow Wallpaper,' which she wrote after a severe bout of postpartum psychosis, Gilman has written works on gender and male domination that continue to maintain their relevance in today's society. In good condition with some light rubbing to the front panel and extremities and some dampstaining to the rear panel and foot of the text block. Samuel Merwin was an American playwright and author who produced twenty-nine works in his lifetime, including 'Drugging a Nation: The Story of China and the Opium Curse,' which he wrote after investigating the Chinese opium trade for 'Success Magazine.'.
