Add to basketDJ shows slightest of wear. Front endpaper discolored due to laid in newspaper articles. Interior clean and unmarked. Inscribed by author on FFEP. "January, 1938. A man reluctantly begins a long journey home, tormented by the decision he has just made. 'Help me, Lord,' he cries. And help does come. Less than an hour later, in the town of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, he has car trouble and is forced to stop. There, as if waiting for him, he meets two gentlemen, who persuade him to settle in Sapulpa and to establish his business there. The factory is to become the world-renowned Frankoma Pottery. The man is John Frank, great ceramicist, founder of Frankoma, and born-again Christian. Told by his daughter Donna, Clay in the Master's Hands is John Frank's story -- the story of an artist and a Christian. As an artist, Mr. Frank overcame a poor boyhood to attend the famed Chicago Art Institute. Thereafter he devoted his life to creating things of beauty priced so that everyone could afford them. As a Christian, he helped to revitalize the Youth for Christ organization, aided countless individuals, and was an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with him, including his own family. Always, he was an example of the joy of being clay in his Master's hands." Laid in newspaper articles are from The Sunday Oklahoman August 18, 1985 "Frankoma Rises From Ashes With Help From Its Friends," Saturday Oklahoman & Times April 7, 1990 "IRS Seizes Sapulpa's Frankoma Pottery for Back Taxes" and The Antique Traveler NewspaperApril 1995 "Clay in the Master's Hands.".

The shipping cost covers postage and packaging. We do not inflate the shipping costs so that we can list the book at a lower price, nor do we inflate the price of the book to cover increased shipping costs. Shipping costs are based on books weighing less than 2 lbs. (0.91 kg). Delivery Confirmation is included with standard U.S. (Media Mail) shipping. If your book order is heavy or oversized, or if there is a shipping cost statement at the end of the book description with a higher rate, you will be contacted by AbeBooks via email to approve the additional shipping charge. If the shipping statement indicates a lower rate, we will reduce your shipping charge when we process your order. The default rates are set to cover the cost of shipping a two-pound book to the most expensive destination within each category. Because of the risks inherent to mailing we will not ship any book without a packing slip (usually Abebooks Shipping Manifest), which includes the package's destination and a return address. We do not include an invoice or pricing. For an additional fee of $3.00, books can be shipped directly to your customer with your return address and/or have the price markings removed. Please specify in the Special Instructions section, and approve the request for extra charges that will follow. We are unable to honor special requests unless they are included in the Special Instructions section or made via email correspondence (Book Inquiries, etc.) that takes place before we process your order. Instructions embedded in the destination address are both annoying and counterproductive to mailing your order accurately -- they will be deleted and disregarded.
