Add to basketA signed, first edition of this scarce novel set in Borneo from English historian and travel writer, Owen Rutter. The first edition. Signed by the author to the title page, with an additional inscription to the front endpaper of 'Undine darling I think this is my best novel & so I would like you to have it. O.' dated 30/07/1937. Written by English historian and novelist, Edward Owen Rutter, who wrote extensively on his various travels and experiences during the First World War. Rutter spent time serving with the North Borneo Civil Service during the war, then travelled around the globe with his wife, making extended stops in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Borneo and many more, which influenced his writing greatly. This particular novel is comprised of a fictional biography of a pagan man living in the hills of Borneo, the enormous, exotic island in Southeast Asia. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, very good, with light bumping to the extremities, causing a small amount of loss and fraying to the head of the spine. Spine is a little faded. The odd spot to endpapers and fore edge. Author's ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with author's signature to the title page. Very Good.
