Additionally inscribed to suffragist, writer, and author of this volume's introduction, May Sinclair, "en signe de gratitude et de respect, Jean de Bosschere." In her opening remarks, Sinclair writes that de Bosschere "is a master of symbolisms and sublimations. He has the mystic vision. He holds up his glass at an unexpected angle and shows you a surprising image of the world, a disconcerting image of your own face. And you see him peeping behind his looking glass like a wise but slightly malevolent sorcerer and enjoying your bewilderment and your embarrassment.".
