In addition, his personal "magpie" bookplate has been affixed to the flyleaf (Fowles chose a magpie motif for the bookplate because these birds are known to be collectors of various objects, so it matches nicely with this book). Very good with soiling to boards and mild tanning to the page edges; interior clean and tight. In a very good dust jacket (price intact) with a touch of rubbing to the extremities, a bit of sunning to the corners of the flaps, and slight loss to the top corner of the rear flap. Basis for the renowned 1965 William Wyler film.
