From the collection of a longtime collector of Nazi memorabilia, this is a SIGNED (by the book's subject, not the author) FIRST EDITION of the biography of Otto Skorzeny-- the Nazi SS Officer once designated "the most dangerous man in Europe" by the Allies during WWII. His most famous exploit was the daring airborne rescue of Benito Mussolini from the mountain-top hotel where he had been hidden away by the Italians, for which Hitler awarded him the Knight's Cross. Having been charged with war crimes but acquitted at Nuremberg in 1947, he went on to reject Hitler & the Nazis & became a "hitman" for Israel with alleged ties to Mossad. He died in 1975. Initially published in London in 1954, this is the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, First Printing, from 1955, in 241 pages with Index in rear + 8 pages of black-&-white photos in center, Foreword by Brigadier General Telford Taylor, USAR. The signed inscription by Skorzeny is dated Xmas 1955 & personalized to a Lt. Richard Williams. 8vo with red-orange cloth-covered boards, ruled & lettered in stark black to spine, is in VG condition: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with mild tanning but completely unmarked. Exterior shows mild rubbing to extremities & slight corner bumping/pushing to both ends of spine. Small tear with slight fraying to lower spine right above publisher's name. The price-clipped DJ is Fair: colorful & mostly complete, but missing 2" chunk from lower spine. Unsightly tape repairs to top edge & along all flaps where they intersect front & back covers-spine. Creasing & light soil, small chips. Nicely cleaned & preserved now in new clear mylar cover free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.…
