About this Item
A unique copy presented to a fellow competitor, Evan Creswell by Emanuel Lasker at the Simpsons Divan, The Strand Tournament opening in 1896. The book is in poor condition and needs attention: The original buckram boards are worn and slightly stained and the spine has been rather crudely repaired with green adhesive or paint. The title page has been detached and stuck back in the wrong way around to display the inscription notes - see photograph. Lacks front FEP. Part of the inscription is attached to the opposite paste down and needs to be professionally removed and repaired. The book is not signed by Lasker, but has an inscription to the Preface - see photo. Seller Inventory # 008954
