About this Item
The autobiography of this well-known literary critic who became Governor of Connecticut for most of the 1930s. He graduated from Yale with a B.A in 1885, and with a PhD. in English Literature in 1889. This handsome version of the first edition has a tipped in prelim designating it as the "Charter Oak Edition", a limited (although no notice of the limitation is given) edition signed by the author. Laid in is a folded, printed sheet being a Tribute to Wilbur L. Cross by Henry Seidel Canby, a fellow critic, and Yale alumnus. There's a frontispiece photograph of Cross and several other black & white photographs throughout the book. This is, as I say, a handsome book with its lovely linen covered boards and blue spine lettering. The book is in fine condition. It comes in a plain blue dust jacket that has faded on the spine panel, and a very good blue slipcase with printed title label. JS. Seller Inventory # 001596
