Item description from seller

Manor Book Company. Hackensack, New Jersey. 1972. 1017 pages. First edition, first printing stated, May 1972. Signed and inscribed by author Ronald E. Calissi to the District Attorney of Tompkins County (NY). The author's father Guy Calissi famously prosecuted Edgar Smith for the 1957 murder of fifteen-year-old honor student and cheerleader Victoria Ann Zielinski of Ramsey, New Jersey. Once on Death Row, the celebrities started their petition to have Smith exonerated for wrongful conviction; and he was set-free thanks to their help. Five years after his release, Edgar Smith kidnapped a woman who survived his murder attempt; ultimately sending Smith back to prison for life; this time without celebrity pleadings. This book includes the complete trial testimony, 48 photo exhibits, synopses of 19 appeals, lab evidence reports, 3 psychiatric exams and truth serum evaluations. You be the judge whether he was guilty or not. Book is about fine. Bright, tight and clean. Binding and hinges are strong. A sprinkling of foxing along top page edges. Original DJ with $10.00 price intact on flap. minimal shelf-rubbing along edges. A very nice signed copy of the definitive account of the notorious Edgar Smith trial. Near fine/near fine. Signed.
