Once on Death Row, the celebrities started their petition to have Smith exonerated for wrongful conviction; and he was set-free thanks to their help. Five years after his release, Edgar Smith kidnapped a woman who survived his murder attempt; ultimately sending Smith back to prison for life; this time without celebrity pleadings.
