First edition, first print, signed by Ted Hughes to the front free endpaper in the month and year of publication; below this he has also inscribed this copy to his daughter (with Sylvia Plath) Frieda and her third husband, with the words: 'For Frieda and Laszlo love Daddy June 1998'. The book is inscribed in the last few months of the poet's life. Rare to find signed in the month of publication and rarer still of course with the inscription to his daughter. The book is in fine condition, with unmarked and very fresh black cloth boards. No signs of use or handling, with sharp corners and spine foot. A lovely and highly clean copy, internally and externally. The jacket is not price-clipped and is in near fine condition, very fresh, one 1cm tear to the top corner of the right side inflap and a small mark at the bottom edge of the front panel.
