A private press economics book First edition, number 22 of 100 copies only, set in Cloister Oldstyle type on Van Gelder paper. With a letter tipped in and signed by the author, a professor of Economicsto go along with this very book. A note by Seligman printed after title page in striking centered typographic alignment. The private press movement nearly passed by economic literature entirely; this is one of the few exceptions. "This very interesting discourse on some early English and American Curiosities was read by the author at the fourteenth quarterly dinner of the Hobby Club of New York, in 1914. It was not printed until six years later, 1920, due to the outbreak of the World War. The frontispiece is a full-page reproduction of the menu card, a very elaborate production showing pictorially some of the characters and books with which the address was concerned. This is a very scarce item" (O'Day, Catalogue of Books printed by John Henry Nash, pp. 19-20). This work is held in many fine libraries and collections around the world and is cited in many a research paper. Folio. Original olive quarter cloth, paper label with title in red, light blue paper covered boards. Frontispiece with tissue-guard, title printed in red and black, caption title and side-headings in red, title device, page numbers and end ornament in blue. Deckled page edges.
