An amazing history of the Sioux Uprising of 1862 in Minnesota, in which the Sioux killed hundreds of defenseless emigrant settlers in the Minnesota River valley in August, 1862. The author has created a very well-organized presentation of hundreds of rare photographs related to this tragic event. A 1" gouge near the bottom of the front board, else a fine copy. Copies of 2 photographs of John Brown laid-in. A lengthy, informative, signed presentation by Curtis Dahlin on the front free-endpaper. Presented to the daughter of William Jensen, well-known collector of local Native American artifacts and primitive antiques, as well as discoverer of "Browns Valley Man", a prehistoric skeleton, the oldest ever found in North America, estimated to be 9000 years old, that he discover in a gravel pit in 1933. An outstanding work that will never be superseded.
