Fowler, Guy & Saunders, John Monk. DAWN PATROL. New York: Grosset & Dunlap, (1930). TRUE FIRST EDITION, released in tandem with the 1930 First National film of the same name directed by Howard Hawks. A Very Good or better copy in a Very Good just jacket (a few tiny chips at the extremities). Attractive cover art on the front panel, star photo rear panel, eight internal stills. INSCRIBED in ink in the 1960s by THREE OF THE FILM'S FOUR STARS, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Neil Hamilton and Frank McHugh on both the front free endpaper and its verso. This copy bears the bookplate of Art Ronnie, a noted studio publicist who later became a TV critic for the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. Inscribed photoplays are exceedingly rare. Possibly a unique opportunity for the collector. DAWN PATROL, the story of a doomed squadron of wartime aviators, was remade several times. John Monk Saunders won the best screenplay Oscar for this film. Laid in is an original cut ad from the 1930 New York Times for the film. Seller Inventory # 003547
