26 pages + 2 religious pages + 4 page Favourite verses of an aged lady ; who died in faith, Aug. 11, 1858. The extras; inside cover a 2 page pencil drawing of a cottage in the country inscribed in corner Aug 23rd/62 E.O.S (drawn by E.O.S in 1862). next 2 pages are 2 watercolours, an old Lady & old man ( poss. Mr & Mrs Olive or Mr & Mrs Sheppard). Book is undated, inscribed top of Title page Mrs. Olive's own copy 1869. Binding good, with minor edge wear/sunning. Contents fair, with a little staining to a few pages near top. Folded title page, a couple of pages a little loose (one detached)., one word altered. At time of listing I was unable find ANY mention of this book, none for sale or in libraries etc. Story seems to be about grandparents (Authors?) also mentions a Mr. Olive, story also quiet religious like many books of the period. Title states by Mrs. Olive, author of Village Annals. British Library has Village Annals. By Mrs. Olive [Edited by Mrs. E. Sheppard.] undated 1866. from hours checking web, and help from an email seems Mrs Emma Sheppard was her sister and author & pioneer of helping people from workhouses, & started the midnight meeting movement also Author of Sunshine in the Workhouse 1s published in 1858 and various later editions, lived in Frome in Somerset and Olive & Emma were sisters, maiden name Brown. As pencil drawing signed E.O.S. who we have been informed was Ellen Olivia Sheppard, and Emma Sheppard's 3rd child, born in 1839. the watercolours could possibly be either Mr & Mrs Oliver or Brown, Please view all scans. 10 x 15cm Aprox.
