Rare remarqued example with an amazing two-page color spread to endpapers. The Dark Man's face is finally shown! This is an original collage design with the dark man's facade in several incarnations, illustrated by Chadbourne's hand, and unique to this very volume. Collage sequence features as many as seven or eight different scenes. Signed by artist adjacent to imagery: "Glenn Chadbourne, 2014". In addition, set into book for novelty and interest, is an additional color facsimile of a different Chadbourne remarque for The Dark Man signed limited edition featuring a dynamic collage of three unique scenes featuring a carousel horse, profile of the DM, and Ferris wheel scene in b.g. Stated First Limited Edition Hardcover at copyright page. Copyright 1969 by Stephen King; Artwork 2013 by Glenn Chadbourne. Unique oblong 9" x 5 3/4" design. More than forty years after SK first wrote his breathtaking narrative poem "The Dark Man," Glenn Chadbourne set out to answer the enigma of this dark man with a portfolio featuring more than seventy full-page illustrations from the talented and humored artist. Paired with this is matching numbered portfolio #344 with limitation certificate signed and with vignettes by Glenn Chadbourne: "Artwork Portfolio for 'The Dark Man' by Stephen King. Artwork by Glen Chadbourne. This Portfolio is Limited to 500 Copies. This is Number '344' 'Glenn Chadbourne'." This portfolio contains an extensive collection of one hundred unbound plates, many never before seen or published. Complete portfolio weighs in at nearly five lbs. in the deluxe two-piece slipcase. Moderate case wear; slight discoloration to edges as is common. First dozen are in a dynamic, richly hued color with a smooth semi-gloss finish. Each leaf measures 9" x 11" and is of thick heavy stock material. The remaining b&w are of similar stock and flat finish. Chadbourne has signed this collection three times: the book, the remarque, and the limitation plate. A true marriage of words and art, with Chadbourne pulling the images from King's imagination and illustrating them in magnificent detail. This incredible blending with Chadbourne's art creates a unique page turning experience discovering hidden layers of mysterious secrets for years to come. Stephen King first wrote about the Dark Man after he envisioned a faceless man in boots, jeans and denim jacket forever walking the roads.
