A tribute compilation to Eugene Debs, America's foremost socialist, labor champion, and five-time presidential candidate, from numerous writers, poets and luminaries while he was imprisoned in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary for speaking out against US involvement in the first world war. Red cloth stamped in gilt, 12mo, pp. [2], 1-4, 5-99, [11]; Very good condition, lacking jacket, spine ends and fore-edge corners lightly frayed, small ripple to cloth on front board, light soil to a few pages “Clearly the White House is the only safe place for an honest man like Debs” - George Bernard Shaw.
