First edition, first printing of Highsmith's brilliant fourth novel, signed by the author to the title page. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1957. A near fine copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding is tight, sturdy and square. A bit of foxing to top edge of text block, a few very faint blemishes to boards, minor wear to spine tips. Jacket shows light general shelfwear and rubbing, closed tear to top of front panel, chipping at spine ends and light sticker residue over the original price, protected in archival mylar.
