In her third short story collection, Poppy Z. Brite finds fresh ways of exploring territory both familiar and strange. Here youll meet the Devil and his giant cat last seen in the pages of Bulgakov, the gourmand coroner of New Orleans, the mad-genius chef who cant stand to have his cheese list criticized, and an assortment of Crescent City characters who also appear in Brites novels Liquor and Prime.
Poppy Z. Brite has found a way of writing about New Orleans that bypasses the clichés and approaches the citys true heart: the hard-working, hard-partying cooks; the ways in which race, class, and sexual orientation do and dont matter; the love of bottom feeders, be they crustaceans or politicos; the million little juxtapositions of sacred and profane, bizarre and mundane, sublime and ridiculous that make up the everyday life of New Orleans. Some of these stories are set elsewhere, but Brite always returns home in the end.

Store description
We are an Internet based business that has been selling books Internationally for going on 25 years. Our inventory consists of 15,000+ titles(prox)of which 95% are Used and/or Rare with a few new items. We try to stock items that appeal to all readers from signed limiteds to comics and everything in between. We tend to specialize in Horror, Suspense Thrillers and Modern Firsts. We don't claim to be the last word on knowledge on anything but know the most about these genres. We stock everything we can find by the following authors: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Clive Barker, Anne Rice, John Sandford, James Lee Burke, Joe R. Lansdale, Robert R. McCammon, J. K. Rowling to name a few. I am not into long descriptions for my books. What descriptions there are concern the physical shape of the book, not content. I am generally hard on my books when describing them. I do use the usual letter grading but describe every defect that the book has to a point that you may not think that you want to buy it. There will never be a surprise when you receive a book from me. Feel free to email or call if you have any questions. I have a lot more satisfied customers then I do unhappy ones. You can return any book that you buy from me that doesn't arrive AS ADVERTISED for a full refund including return shipping costs.…
