About the Author

Scott Christensen is one of the country's premier plein air painters. his landscape paintings demonstrate outstanding sophistocation of design and subtle use of color.

He was raised in Lander, Wyoming and was interested in a career of teaching and coaching before a serious football injury in college forced him to redirect his focus. Scott enrolled in a college art class and then began on his own to vigorously persue an intensive study of the great masters including Carl Runguis, Edgar Payne, Joaquin Sorolla and John Singer Sargent.

Christensen ventures out of doors to study and collect information locally as well as from other spectacular locations worldwide. His travels include the eastern and western seaboards of the United States, Sweden, Ireland, Hawaii, and New Zealand. Back in his studio, Scott composes his large landscapes from his small studies made in the field, such as the 2000 Prix de West winner, "Wind River Ice."
