Inscribed First Edition, First Printing of this cool vintage baseball book in which longtime Dodger player development guru Al Campanis outlines the fundamentals of better baseball the (Brooklyn) Dodger Way. Campanis was the first Greek American Major Leaguer during a short stint in the Big Leagues with the Brooklyn squad. For decades, he was a Dodger organization stalwart with major roles in player development before rising to General Manager from the late 1960s to 1980s. In 1987, he had the dubious distinction of being one of the first sports figures canceled for ill advised public statements in the media, imploding during a "Nightline" interview related to the dearth of Blacks in managerial and executive positions in baseball. (Ironically, the back cover of the book includes a blurb from Jackie Robinson) Inscribed by Al Campanis on the front endpaper to a previous owner. That inscription is followed by an inscription from that owner to, appropriately, an aspiring baseball player. 256 pages, illustrated. The book has rubbing and edge wear on the covers. The dust jacket has edge wear. Seller Inventory # 015605
