About the Author
Haley has always been fascinated by the Indian, Spanish, and frontier histories of the region. He has traveled the back country of the Southwest extensively, gathering historical and technical skills for writing quality western adventure. Haley uses this intimate knowledge of the region to vividly and accurately describe the terrain and western lore in his novels. Haley supplements his knowledge with research to give his novels an historical foundation.
Haley began writing fiction in 1990. By this time it had become clear that the estate of Louis LAmour did not intend to publish anything new, that Louis, the great storyteller, was gone for good. Starving for a good western, Haley decided to write his own. "Im different from Louis because I develop the hero more. My hero not only does what a mans got to do, but he suffers and is transformed in the doing of it," says Haley about his writing style. "My intention is to entertain, impart knowledge of western lore, and leave the reader slightly changed through the transformation of my characters."
