First edition, first impression. SIGNED, DATED AND INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR(S), IN BLACK PEN, ON FFEP 'For Lee Lee and Dee with lots of love from Keith and Claire. 6th July 1968'. Some edge wear, chipping and short closed tears to top and bottom of jacket and spine, lamination lifting along top and bottom of slightly surrealist (fashionable) design jacket, corners bruised, some slight yellowing to page block, some slight offsetting to endpapers, not price clipped (25s), no other inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age, in unfaded jacket. 208pp. A fable and work of fantasy, beginning with Piccadilly Circus in the rush hour when Dr. Oona and her scientist husband Mycroft are alarmingly directed into a lift which descends to a wondrous world of beauty and peace where they are joined by a painter and a monk. The conflict is reconciling this new world to the old one they have been used to. A husband and wife team of two authors (Keith Andrews and Claire Andrews), now largely forgotten, publishing as one under joint pseudonym Keith Claire. Exceptionally scarce signed.
