Two jacketed volumes of Edwin H. Cady's biography of William Dean Howells, the trailblazing editor of the Atlantic Monthly and author of the original gray-flannel-suit novel, The Rise of Silas Lapham. The Syracuse University professor inscribed each volume to the same recipients on different occasions. The jackets are each unclipped with the $4.00 and $5.00 prices intact. The jacket of Early Years volume has light soiling and can best be described as shopworn, and is now in protective Brodart cover.
