270 x 190mm. pp. 280. Cyrillic text. A very scarce inscribed copy of Alexander Frumkin's landmark dissertation "Electrocapillary Phenomena and Electrode Potentials". Bound in later black buckram boards this copy features its original paper front cover in Cyrillic text. Inscribed by Frumkin to title page reading 'For the British Museum of Electrochemistry. A. Frumkin'. Alexander Frumkin is one of the founders of 20th century electrochemistry. Sometimes called "the father of modern electrochemistry". His high authority as a scientist of encyclopedic erudition made him the world's acknowledged expert on quite a variety of controversial problems of electrochemistry and physical chemistry. Some black and white illustrations. Bound in plain black buckram boards (c.1950's). New endpages. Original front cover re-mounted and bound in with archival tape for protection. Considerable browning to front cover and some chips to edges and corners (pre-restoration). Some general browning to pages and small bumps and knicks to edges (as would be expected). Some light marking to boards and leather title label rubbed. Title page features one other unrelated signature in addition to Frumkin's. New f.e.p features signature of Frumkin's friend Roger Parsons and the date October 1956. A very scarce copy of an important paper in the history of electrochemistry. Images available on request.
