The Elephant in the Room

"If ever there was a children’s book for adults only, this is the one: sweet and surreal, playfully Picasso, and full of cockeyed wisdom. I was charmed, and I’m giving the damn thing to everyone. I think you’ll do the same. My advice is grab a copy immediately. Yesterday, if possible." ―Stephen King

Jack Bender is a storyteller. Sometimes this takes the form of painting in his home studio in Los Angeles, sometimes this means directing or producing award-winning television dramas like The Sopranos, Lost, and Game of Thrones. Bender's vibrant first book, The Elephant in the Room, is a collection of stories told through his art, a lyrical interweaving of abstraction, rich color and texture, and surreal dreaminess. With themes of morality, identity, love, loss, death, and birth, these stories are tender and intimate, but cut with Bender's biting humor and a master storyteller's sense of irony.

Jack Bender was an executive producer and lead director of Lost. He has also directed on other popular shows such as The Sopranos, Alias, Under the Dome, The Last Ship, and Game of Thrones.
