An honest and colourful account of Harold Hartney's World War One experiences flying with the Royal Flying Corps and the Unites States Army Air Service. Originally published in 1940, soon after the outbreak of the Second World War, Lieutenant Colonel Hartney formulates hypothesis and various prognostics on what the future of air power and how its use and development will evolve. Born Canadian, Harold Hartney obtained the U.S. citizenship later in life. He was discharged from the U.S. Army after having commanded the First Pursuit Group in France.
