Item description from seller

First edition. Thick octavo. 223, [1]; 480 [appendix and index], [2] ads pp. Brown buckram with morocco spine label titled in gilt. Slim strip of paper removed and repaired, three owner names, including that of the author (see below), small tears at the edges of a few leaves, rubbing and use on the boards, about very good. The book contains several pencil notes, some of which lead us to theorize that this was Bertha Haven Putnam's copy, although we don't find it to be definitive. The first edition is uncommon.
