About this Item
Fine unread condition color photographic softcover wraps. Includes Dedication and Prologue. Signed by the author with black pen on the title page. "The background of this story relates to the Tylenol scandal of the 80's. In my search for subject matter to create a new work of fiction, I read a summary account about this case and was left wondering if the story, as one reviewer stated, was a fraud. Whatever happened remains on the books as an unsolved crime. Surely there are many other unsolved crimes in cities, but most have not received the publicity and coverage of the Tylenol scare. The challenge to create a story from the background and misinformation of this case became my challenge. I have written a novel which uses the theme of poisoning pills with cyanide, but created a vastly different scenario. The story will give readers a different perspective about the intent of the crime and the ending will raise questions why some crimes remain unsolved. Reader opinions may differ, but the story carries a message about life, love, discovery, and fate." - from the Prologue. "An outbreak of cyanide poisoning of Frederick and Frederick's best selling pain killer drug, Relief, causes financial turmoil in their board room and panic in the streets of Chicago. Sussex, a major competing firm in Chicago, quickly capitalizes on the event and the power struggle that emerges. Michael Mayberry is set up when he is charged with the vicious act, aimed to weaken Frederick and Frederick for a corporate takeover. Michael is caught in a web of lies and deceit. The agony and fear of imprisonment destroys his moral being. His firm denies the false accusations, but the power of Frederick and Frederick is relentless. They continue to harass and press charges. To escape, his firm sends him to Duke University to work on a new cancer drug. When police attempt to arrest Michael, he escapes and finds refuge in a Trappist monastery. The search for Michael continues. As the plot unfolds, the suspense doesn't stop until the very last page." - from the rear outer cover. Seller Inventory # 004531
