Bob Flaherty, New Yok, April15/25Ó. Julian Johnson (1885-1965), one time husband of New York nightclub hostess, Texas Guinan, had a distinguished career in Hollywood. He co-wrote the screenplay for Wings (1927), the first film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Johnson worked with D.W. Griffith on The Sorrows of Satan (1926), worked twice with Josef Von Sternberg on The Docks of New York (1928) and The Case of Lena Smith (1929) as well as numerous pictures starring actor Emil Jannings. Eventually, Johnson became the head story editor for 20th Century Fox studios in the 1930s. Quarter cloth to paper-covered boards. Printed paper titles labels on the spine and front board.
