Gilt lettering and gilt bands to spine. Gilt lettering, gilt frame and gilt stamped illustration to upper board. Top edges gilt. Frontispiece with tissue guard. Illustrated with 95 full page black and white plates. The book measures 30 cm by 24 cm by 3.2 cm. Presentation inscription to front free endpaper. Head and foot of spine rubbed. Spine slightly dulled. Corners of fore edges of boards bumped and rubbed, exposing underlying board. Lower board rubbed and partially soiled. There would appear to have been some water and/or ink staining to the top edges of many of the pages. Consequently, they have stuck together at the top inside edge, resulting in some small areas of loss to several pages. Front and rear free endpapers lightly tanned. Some light foxing throughout. Overall, the book is in just about a good condition.
