Full blue calf with raised bands and elaborate gilt lettering and decorative rules and devices, publisher's thin card stock slipcase with gold foil "First Edition Society" label. 243pp. All edges gilt. Color frontispiece, full-page color illustrations, lavender moire silk endpapers, sewn-in lavender satin page marker. Fine/near fine. Pristine, tight limited (unspecified) first leatherbound edition of this 1977 novel by the Pulitzer Prize winner (1929-2020). Interestingly, tipped to the inner flyleaf is an actual pristine library catalogue card for the first trade edition (Knopf) of this title, a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, single-hole-punched at bottom center as expected, signed boldly in full by Grau in black ballpoint at center.
