Very rare first edition of this cook book. Dedicated to the Hon, Lady Elizabeth Warburton, and signed by her on the 'To the Reader' page. Also signed by the author Elizabeth Raffald on the first page of Chapter 1. Bottom of title page states: The Book to be signed by the Author s own Hand-writing, and entered at Stationers Hall. Full leather. One folding plate. Condition: Good. Boards and spine scuffed and battered but all complete. Binding fragile. The text block is split in two between 176 /177. Both portions partially attached to the front and back of spine respectively. Some partially erased writing and the name Elizabeth written inside front board. No endpapers or other pages before the title page. At the rear there are 6 pages only of the index, running alphabetically as far as Pickle with the rest missing. Internally pages are spotted and stained, but still easily legible. Occasional edge tears. Size: 8x5.5in / 20x14cm. 362pp with 6 [vi] pages of index. Weight: 500g.
