Ballistic tests on the bullets that killed U.S. Sen. (and former Louisiana Gov.) Huey Long were never conducted. No autopsy was performed (though it's obvious his surgeon did not realize a bullet had punctured his liver, which caused his death as it continued to bleed for days.) The author's aunt -- Jessica Lauren Fields -- heard people talking about the $600,000 contract to assassinate Long -- who threatened a 1936 populist challenge to dilettante Franklin Roosevelt -- and reported it to authorities. She was hauled into a kangaroo court, deemed "mentally incompetent," and locked up in a D.C. "mental institution" for the rest of her life. To keep her from talking about the oil companies, the railroad companies, and the opposing politicians who funded that hit, she was allowed no visitors for her remaining 53 years. True stories are generally told in "fictional novels' to avoid lawsuits, though not this one. Synopsis

A historical novel based on a true story. The 1935 Cover-up is exposed for the very first time through the unforgettable life and unmerciful torture of Jessica Lauren Fields. She overheard the plot to assassinate U.S. Senator and former Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long (The Kingfish). She reported the conspiracy to the authorities before the assassination. Two days after the assassination, she was arrested and charged with slander and spreading malicious lies. The next day the cover-up was upheld in a kangaroo court which judged her incompetent and committed her to a mental institution for life in Washington. She was not permitted visitors and was ineligible for parole. She remained confined until she died fifty-three years after the assassination. Jessica discovered that telling the truth against the powers that be required paying tremendous consequences. A life sentence without visitors or the possibility of parole, for telling the truth, is unjust and unmerciful torture in the United States of America.

About the Author

Jessica Lauren Fields was Duel Stone's aunt. He never met her because of the events that happened in her unforgettable life story. The family has been grieved for over six decades with this one-sided and unfair prosecution.
