Thompson was an American journalist and author, and the founder of the gonzo journalism movement, a style of writing that blurs distinctions between fiction and nonfiction. The book is equally famous of the highly detailed crazed illustrations by Ralph Steadman. This stunning example has an extremely rare full page original painting/drawing by Steadman. The book is housed in a custom red cloth clamshell. The book is in beautiful condition, internally appearing crisp and unread. The book has grey paper boards with black quarter cloth and bright unfaded silver titles to the spine. The book has sharp corners, a tight square binding, and no edgewear. The end papers are clean with no owner names, no inscriptions, and no book plates. The stunning, boldly signed Steadman art is located on the first blank page of the book.
