About this Item
Thick octavo, green cloth lettered in gilt. First edition, first printing, 751 pages. David Riesman, Jr.'s own copy, with his signature on the front endpaper and hundreds of his penciled annotations throughout the text. These annotations, comprising significant word, punctuation, and reference note changes, were included in future printings of the estimable work, a companion volume to his classic "The Lonely Crowd: A Study of the Changing American Character." The huge successes of "The Lonely Crowd" and "Faces in the Crowd" earned Riesman the cover of "Time" magazine in 1954, making him the first social scientist to receive this honor. A significant copy of Riesman's landmark publication. Seller Inventory # ABE-1606243663926
