First edition, first printing. Signed by Larry Kramer on the title page and inscribed: "To Michael and Richard, This - an historical novel now." [viii], 304, [1] pp. Bound in publisher's black cloth lettered in red gilt on spine. Bottom edge of textblocak a little soiled, else Fine in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light wear and heavily sunned spine panel. A nice signed copy of the first edition of Larry Kramer's controversially cynical novel about a gay man searching for love amongst the clubs and bath houses of New York. It was a culture that would soon be destroyed by the AIDS crisis of the 1980s - hence Kramer's inscription.
