About this Item

First edition, first printing, in second issue jacket. Signed by Vincent Burns on the front endpaper, inscribed to a Mrs. McClain and dated July 3rd, 1940. 254 pp. Bound in publisher's gray cloth with black lettering. Near Fine with dust soiling to grey cloth, tiny tear to head. Very Good+ dust jacket is in quite nice shape: no fading. Small tear to head, light rubbing and edge wear, three little holes at fore edge of back panel. A few small ink blotches on front flap, transferred from signature on ffep. Burns, co-author of I am a Fugitive from a Georgia Chain Gang, turned his attention to women in prison with this sensational expose of drug use, lesbianism, and abuse of authority.
