Item description from seller

Small 4to, pp [2], 25, old flish wrappers, final leaf torn and repaired else good, FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR, inscribed to title verso 'presented to Mrs Balmain by the Author Dysart 17 May 1768.' The rector of Dysart privately published several such pamphlet poems, all quite rare now and , as John C Cole has written 'long forgotten, even by scholar, and proably deservedly so.' Colville [died 1788] who conducted an interesting correspondence with James Boswell and dedicated this particular patriotic effusion to Gray whose collected verse was then being prepared for re-publication. The author's inscription is no doubt to a local Dysart parishoner and patron.
