Add to basket2014. First edition. xxviii, 353pp., frontispiece portrait and black and white illustrations. This is a privately published biography of Major Charles Angus Moreton Macdonald (1913-1942), the son of John Ronald Moreton Macdonald, 18th of Largie and 24th of the Lee and Daisy Maud Crabbe. Educated at Winchester College, Winchester, and at Magdalen College, Oxford, he fought in the Second World War and gained the rank of Major in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He died on 3 March 1942, two days after SS Rooseboom was torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I-59, and this biography concentrates on his military career. The book is bound in the original laminated boards with white titling on the spine and white titling and a portrait on the front board. The book is in excellent condition with some shelf wear to the boards and light bumping to the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean and the author has flat signed the title-page. PLEASE NOTE: heavyish book so extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
