Brown cloth hardcover stamped in blind on the covers with title on the spine. Some earlier repairs made to the spine. Spine cloth laid back onto later cloth and is barely noticeable. Edge wear to the corners. Moderate to heavy toning to the end sheets and frontispiece. Light to moderate foxing and toning to the text. Thin crack in the text block at page 211. Inscribed on the front blank end sheet - "For my dear Mother with gratitude & affection J. F. Stearns." Name of Mrs. S. C. Pettingill? written top of the right front flyleaf. 1993 later owner inscription written on the front paste down. Seller Inventory # 32337
