InDIA; First American edition, color illustrated, hand drawn & illuminated dedicated to Chartles Darwin. Dating 1881, covers somewhat darkened. It was dedicated to Charles Darwin. India proof # 77 of 200 L10.10. ; there were 200 sets of this, the first proofs produced on India Paper measuring 8 x 11". [Gumachian 1924, Not in Darton, Muir and Osgood. }. Cloth backed. , 57 pages comprising pictorial limitation and dedication leaves, half-title, title-page, frontispiece and 52 magnificant illustrations within decorative borders setting off a verse by Crane for his fairy play. , Signed Walter Crane in pencil inside the limitation. Their was later a second set of these proofs issued in a quantity of 300. Nice copy. ; Signed by Author.
