This work attempts to describe the day-by-day occurrences on the trail for that year and also relate the reasons for such an escort. * There are 22 chapters in this well written book including 12 different documents that are examined, the Bibliography and index. * The 5 illustrations include a Portrait of Bennet Riley as the Frontispiece and also a Map of the Santa Fe Trail. * Condition: The previous owner has a blind stamp on the bottom of the front endpaper.
