Quarto. Pp. xi [i] 97 [2] + [30]ff. Number 20 of an edition of only 85 copies SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR AND BY THE PRINTER, FRANK E. HOPKINS. Printed by hand at the Marion Press on hand-made American Paper, from July 1897 to January 1898. Title printed in red and black. The 29 illustrations, some folding, are mostly collotype facsimiles of title pages and manuscripts, as well as a large photo of a book-worm. Original leaves, demonstrating foxing, mending, and worming, come from three 16th century books and one 19th century book. A pocket inside the back cover contains four slightly worm-drilled folio pages from a copy of Froissart's Chronicles, 1525. Small spot to edge of one end paper, pencil mark, and a bookplate (Henry Hudson Eddy) which offset onto opposite leaf; else fine, in vellum covers with yapp edges and slight soil. An early leaf book.
