FIRST EDITION. Ten slim numbered volumes housed in a labelled box, in an unnumbered edition of 250 sets*, each volume signed by its author: 1) Edith Sitwell, 2) George Barker, 3) Randall Swingler, 4) Jonathan Denwood, 5) Stanley Snaith, 6) Dorian Cooke, 7) Jack Lindsay, 8) Maurice Carpenter, 9) Jack Beeching, 10) Norman Cameron. Together with the original prospectus which sets out the aims of the editors: "Key Poets will not be limited to any single group of poets, but will include work by any poet who has a contribution to make of positive significance". Available as a set for 21s. or individually for 1s., the aim was to produce good poetry cheaply and so enable it to find a new audience. 16.0 x 10.3 cm, ten uniform volumes in vibrant pink wrappers, all lettered in black on white tablet to upper wrapper. Housed in the original yellow box bearing paper title label to spine, with loosely inserted prospectus & ephemera. A fine set, the box is just a little worn and toned. [*According to prospectus, though Fifoot, Sitwell’s bibliographer, states only 100 boxed sets signed by all 10 poets were issued, with a further 1650 copies of each booklet unsigned available separately.] [Fifoot EA44]. …
