First Snow (A Book of Selected Poems) [Signed]

SIGNED in full & INSCRIBED by the author in the year of publication in black ink on ffep: "To Courtenay Theobald with warm regards and best wishes. Edward Steese, Chiristmas 1954". With a foreword by the author. From inner front flap of dustjacket: "First Snow is Mr. Steese's fifth book of verse and his first major work since Spring Night (London 1927). Only a few poems in this new collection have seen print before. He is an architect and painter by profession". Interestingly, the recipient of the author's inscription, Courtenay Theobald, was also an architect (& was in partnership with well-known Scottish architect Maxwell Ayrton). Printed in the USA. Bound in original blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine, in publisher's unclipped blue printed dustjacket. Faint splash staining to dustjacket, otherwise a very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. The dustjacket is now protected in a removable clear mylar cover. 80pp. Uncommon title, scarce signed copy. RARE. SB-53.
