New York. William Morrow & Company. 1964. First American Edition. Octavo (7 1/2 x 5 1/2). 279 pp. This is a significant association copy. The book is inscribed and signed by Roderick Haig-Brown to his longtime friend from Seattle, Edward Dunn. Mr. Dunn was a frequent visitor at Above Tide for several decades and was Alan Haig-Brown's godfather. Today, Edward Dunn's legacy is prominently on display in Seattle at Dunn Gardens, a majestic park area featuring regional plants and trees. Fisherman's Fall is the most fully developed title in the Seasons series because Haig-Brown spent considerable time skin-diving in the Campbell River (briefly described in the inscription) observing firsthand salmon and cutthroat trout in their natural environment. Several chapters in the book were based on his observations, with sections on steelhead fishing with the dry fly, salmon fishing, estuary fishing, concluding with chapters on ethics and underwater examinations. Harold Ober Associates, Haig-Brown's literary agent, reported sales of 2,261 copies of the book sold; the book went out of print in 1971. The book is bound in brown and yellow cloth with white titles on the spine. Pictorial dust jacket. Fine in a near very good dust jacket with the always-present moderate fading to the spine panel.
