In addition, a postcard with front cover book illustration has been signed by Deborah Ranger and Kathleen Wyatt, contributors to the volume. Also, a flyer picturing Lamb and the contributors announcing the publication party at the University of Connecticut is included. The author went to the State House in September 2007 to petition the governor to allow the women of York Prison to receive royalties from the sale of this book. He got no farther than the formidable Chief of Staff Lisa Moody, who informed Mr. Lamb that the governor was not available, but that she would see to it that the book and his message were delivered. Rell opposed convicts receiving royalties while imprisoned. It read ?This is too funny! I?m having lunch next week with Lisa Moody?can?t wait to find out the "backstory." the Nine days later I received this email: ?I had lunch with Lisa yesterday and she assured me that she presented the book and Wally?s message to Gov. Rell. She got a kick out of the ?story? you included with the book?s description.? A copy of the email is included with the sender's name redacted. Wally Lamb has volunteered at York Correctional Institute for many, many years, helping the women of York to find their voices through the written word.
