First edition 1st printing, An 87th Precinct mystery, Fair to Good book that has spine slant, two white spots to front board, and soft spine ends; in a similar dust jacket with chips and loss at spine ends, several small, closed tears, rubbing, fading and some age toning flaps and spine. This copy has been inscribed: To Tony Mellor with warmest wishes, Evan Ed McBain Hunter and dated 6/2/78 on the half-title page. Mr. Mellor has written his name in ballpoint to both paste-downs, near edges where writing is beneath the flaps. Note from Hunter to Mr. Mellor on Hunter embossed note paper, in similar embossed envelop. Note is dated 2/28/77. There was a movie in 1972 with Burt Reynolds, Raquel Welch, and Yul Brynner.
