The slipcase, well preserved, attractive and still protecting the books within. SCARCE FIRST EDITION of this beautiful limited edition which includes six original lithographs, one of which is signed in hand by Rockwell Kent. In 1928 Kent and two companions were shipwrecked on the coast of Greenland, eventually spending two months there. Several years later, in 1931, he returned, built a house, and took up his living-- 'the happiest and certainly most productive' period in his life. Part of that productivity was this journal, a 'record, intimate and authentic, of the past, of a way of life that has vanished beyond recall, and of a people the remains of whose ancient, cultural identity are fast being submerged by the tides of "progress."'.
