Like new SIGNED to official bookplate hardback copy. Hodder & Stoughton 1995. First publicly available UK edition with coloured endpaper maps, original black boards, burgundy cloth back gilt titles, purple silk marker. A like new copy in a like new unclipped dustwrapper of the true UK first edition. Small crease to one of the front enf papers, otherwise immaculate. Around 1200 copies were printed with the number line 1 before the author objected to the dustwrapper design and the book was withdrawn. These early copies were sold only at airports and overseas. Thus this is therefore the 'first' UK edition (first available for sale in the UK) although technically the second printing with number line 2. We pack our books properly and ship daily from the UK.

Settling in the Somerset countryside with his inamorata, Emma, Cranmer is through with the dangerous life. But trouble comes when his best agent, Larry Pettifer, pays a visit, charming Emma and wooing her with talk of a new Russian revolution.
